A home for short, checkable results that do not fit the shape of a conventional paper — written by students, early-career researchers and anyone working outside a large institution.
Submit a paper What we publish
How review works here. AOOPS uses a publish-then-review model: every submission passes an editorial screening for scope, completeness and integrity, is posted with a DOI, and is then opened to public review. Each paper displays its status — awaiting review or reviewed — so you always know what you are reading. We never call this pre-publication peer review.
Volume 1 is open
Sample article page — placeholder text, not a real paper. Use this to see how a published article will look, including the abstract block, review status, citation and licence. Template
The inaugural issue is open for submissions
We are accepting research notes in artificial intelligence, physics and mathematics. First decisions are typically issued within 10 working days of submission. Authors of the first issue will be listed on this page with their DOIs.
Published articles will appear here — title, authors, DOI and review status.
Sections
Research Notes
A lemma with proof, a measurement, an algorithm, a numerical observation. Typically 2,000–6,000 words.
Replications & Null Results
Faithful replications, failed replications and negative results — treated as first-class contributions, not leftovers.
Methods & Data Notes
Protocols, benchmarks, datasets and software, with a clear account of what they enable and how to reuse them.
Commentary & Humour
Satire and honest fun about how science is actually done. Non-research, not reviewed, not indexed. Read the section →
Aim and scope
Most venues are built for large, polished, well-funded studies. A great deal of real knowledge falls outside that shape: a short proof, a single careful measurement, a negative result, a benchmark that never found a home, a student project that answered a genuine question.
AOOPS publishes that work. We ask for three things: the claim is stated clearly, the evidence is checkable, and the writing is honest about its limits. Length is not a criterion.
